Meet Our Provider

Diane Dix was born and raised in Ishpeming and has resided in Negaunee for over 20 years, and recently founded Unity Health in January 2021. She is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C), and is licensed to practice in the State of Michigan with supervision of a collaborating physician.

Diane is committed to doing what she can to fix what is primarily broken in healthcare, which is prevention (a.k.a. primary care). Here is what she has to say about healthcare today and the approach she will be using at Unity Health.

“Keeping people healthy should not require expensive medical services. My goal is to do things FOR PEOPLE instead of having to do things TO PEOPLE. Insurance companies have incentivized providers with correlating a providers pay based on volume which is the exact opposite of what people need in primary care. Prevention and healing are relationship based and our country’s healthcare system has suppressed primary care with medications versus encouraging a connection with patients to find root causes of illness and fixing that problem.

Starting a Direct Primary Care practice can lead to healthier communities and for community members to have affordable and timely access to care, and personally, feel a true sense of fulfillment. We will have a patient panel of approximately 500 compared to others patient panels of 2,000-3,000.

The lower volume allows us to connect and partner with you to meet your health care needs. Please feel free to contact us for any questions about our practice or Direct Primary Care.”

About Unity Health Direct Primary Care Practice

At Unity Health, our approach to providing an exceptional direct primary care practice experience means we do not conform to insurance or governmental influence. Instead, we focus on using a patient-centered approach to guide all clinical decisions. This means getting to the root of the problem causing your illness and working together to restore your health.

Primary and preventative care and the treatment of opioid dependance make up the core of the services we provide. However, we also take care of sports physicals, sick visits, and prescription refills.

Our medical clinic is very proud to offer a safe space where we welcome people of all genders, races, and sexual orientations. Please, reach out to us today at (906) 204-2238 to explore cost-saving medical care that focuses on a whole-patient approach to regaining health.

Prioritizing Family Wellness

As a certified APRN, FNP-C with over 20 years of experience, family wellness and community health are the main goals of our clinic. We do this by providing compassionate care whether you’re in good health, seeking preventive solutions, or experiencing a chronic illness and would benefit most from maintenance appointments.

While other medical family practices take on patient panels of 2,000 – 3,000 persons, we cap our patient capacity at 500. This way, we can really get to know you and your body’s unique needs, and we’ll always have the time and space available to take care of your medical issues in a timely manner.

Tools for Addiction

Mentoring and education, and clinical tools for addiction allow us to assist our community in staying safe. Reducing opioid deaths and helping those who are suffering from dependence is a priority we take very seriously.

We work very hard to make our clinic a safe and welcoming place for people taking the next step to regaining happiness and vitality. Don’t hesitate to reach out to our office for more information. Our value-driven rates make accessing the healthcare services you need so much easier.

Choose a Medical Family Practice That Puts You First

We see great value in taking the time to listen to your needs carefully. This means, if we need to take a little more time to understand what is happening, we will. A thorough investigation allows us to identify and meet your health goals.

Affordable Family Medicine

Unity Health recognizes medical care involving insurance companies, and the government is a broken system that minimizes patient wellness.

We are committed to transforming this system by producing good outcomes for our patients through our direct family medicine approach. This means being able to spend as much time with you during your appointments as needed, and the clinical decisions made will be based on your body’s unique physiology instead of being influenced by insurance requirements.

Take your health into your own hands. Connect with us by phone at (906) 204-2238 to get started.
